Champs of the Week: Week One
Class-A: Ernie Burkes – Neshannock
Burkes did in all for the Lancers in a Saturday afternoon opener against Western Beaver. The junior qb tossed 3 touchdown passes of 15, 30 and 10 yards while running for two more from 13 and 30 yards out. Neshannock took down the Golden Beavers 55-8, and you can relive all of Burke’s scores on the Champs Sports Network here.
Class-AA: Shai McKenzie – Washington
McKenzie started the 2012 season off on the right foot, while using both of them running for 211 yards in an opening Friday night 28-7 win over Greensburg Central Catholic. The junior found the end zone three times on just 13 carries including a 77-yard scamper.
Class-AAA: Joe Carroll – Thomas Jefferson
Carroll completed 10 of 14 passes for 202 and threw five touchdown passes in his first varsity start to lead Thomas Jefferson to a 41-14 win against Ringgold Friday night.
Class-AAAA: Mike Minjoc – Peters Township
Minjoc ran for 247 yards in a – win over Bladwin on the Champs Sports Network Friday night. In addition to the yards Minjoc racked up four touchdowns on the ground from 58, 51, 15 and 39 yards respectively.
