MONROEVILLE — Terry Smith will once again lead the Gateway Gators football program in 2012, however it maybe his last season.
Wednesday night, the board decided Terry Smith would still be able to coach the program in what is expected to be a very promising season for the Gators. The board also stated however that no Gateway administrator would be permitted to coach any of the athetlic programs after this school year, meaning Smith would need to step down as athetlic director to continue to coach football in 2013.
The board also upheld up last months vote that his athletic director position would in fact be part-time with a $45,000 salary and half of his benefits paid for by the school district.
In addition, Smith will receive $10,000 for being the head football coach.
The athletic director along with eighteen teacher positions were cut down as part of a $7 million mandatory budget reduction.
